On November 4th 2008, 50 Forum members filled the new Turkish restaurant Samdan (means candelabra), on Winchmore Hill Green.

Our starters were a selection of cold dishes such as humous, stuffed vine leaves, cracked wheat salad with peppers, parsley, spring onions and tomatoes-a really lovely variety of dips all accompanied by warm homemade flat bread.

As there were so many people there, the pace of the lunch was leisurely for us, unlike the staff, who were kept busy throughout and kept calm and collected on the outside!

The main courses were a choice of either chicken chunks or lamb chunks, cooked over charcoal with rice or chips and salad. Alternatively, vegetarian moussaka was offered.

The accompanying chilli and garlic sauces were delicious and cheeks began to glow-either from the chilli or the glasses of wine which many chose to have with their lunch.

We will certainly be returning to Samdan in 2009 and I know that Forum members had yet another super social event in the run up to the darker winter days ahead.
